July-Sept 2020 Wardrobe

Welcome to my quarter 3 purchases & additions! This is where I list out all of the clothes I bought new and secondhand, as well as what I received gifted from brands. This is a judgement free-zone - I know to some this might seem like a lot and to others it will seem like not a lot. So I just want to set a boundary here and say that I am neutral about it and would appreciate that you are respectful! I just like to be transparent.

*I don't include underwear, loungewear, and bags/accessories here.

Rehomed items

I do think the most sustainable thing to do is to keep clothes for as long as possible, but I also don't believe it's healthy to keep stuff that doesn't make you feel good or that doesn't fit anymore. So because of this I have started to keep track of things I am rehoming. And if it's something I purchased this year, I will net it out of my count for the year. I usually try to return stuff instead of re-selling, but a few things I purchased on sale and was not able to.

Total rehomed items: ~18 (3 were counted as purchases this year)

So for this year, I have gotten 13 new items, 10 secondhand items, and 7 gifted items, for a total of 30 items.

Reflections

I am trending about 3 items/month right now or 10 items/quarter. That kind of makes sense to me and feels good for me right now - knowing that this year I am 1) building my wardrobe back up after sizing out of a lot last year and also 2) knowing that it's a pandemic, meaning more emotional spending and 3) having a more flexible budget this year than I ever have.
