Oct-Dec 2020 Wardrobe

Wow, officially made it an entire year of keeping track of my wardrobe purchases! My real goal for 2020 was to understand my habits a little bit better by keeping track of how much I was buying and where I was shopping from, so this has been really helpful for me personally.

This quarter I went a little wild - It was a very stressful time with the election and completing my thesis, so I am trying to be nice to myself >:)

So in total for this 2020, I have gotten 20 new items, 13 secondhand items, and 12 gifted items, for a total of 45 items, 33 of which I purchased.

This is a little more than I was expecting, but still well below the average US person. I set out with only wanting to buy 12 items that were considered new (not secondhand), and I didn't go too far over that. I also was not expecting a global pandemic when I set my original intentions, so unfortunately I haven't been able to go out and thrift in-person since before March, which is how I used to buy secondhand most often. 2020 was also a year for me to rebuild a closet with clothes that fit me because in 2019 I parted with a lot of my clothes that I grew out of.

I also was not expecting my Instagram to grow so much and have the opportunity to work with small brands. I am still fine-tuning those relationships and how I want to approach working with brands going forward.

But all in all, I am proud of myself for keeping track and especially keeping a budget since June. I was also able to donate more money to organizations and individuals this year than ever before, in part because of keeping a close-eye on my finances and budget.

And if you are curious to read about my favorite pieces I bought in 2020 vs ones I should have skipped, I am linking my blog post here.
